Abbottabad: More than 100 athletes from across Pakistan participated in a 5-kilometre running race organizedA by the Advancing Generation Foundation in Abbottabad to promote sports, physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle among citizens, particularly the youth.
The race started from the Abbottabad Board and culminated at the Abbottabad Sports Complex after covering a distance of five kilometres. Children, youngsters and adults participated in the event with great enthusiasm and determination.
Qurban Ali from Sahiwal secured first position, while Abbottabad’s Abdul Wahab and Aizaz Ali stood second and third, respectively.
International athlete and Backyard Ultra Asian Champion Jamal Saeed attended the event as a special guest. He recently completed a challenging 275-kilometre race from K2 Base Camp to Skardu, earning recognition for his remarkable endurance achievement.
The organisers said the event was aimed at encouraging young people and citizens to adopt healthy lifestyles and take part in sporting activities. Participants appreciated the initiative and expressed hope that similar events would continue to be organized in the future.
