SALU kicks off independence day celebrations


Sukkur: Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur on Monday formally launched its Independence Day celebrations with a grand patriotic rally held under the theme “Jashan-e-Azadi: Maarka-e-Haq Se Tameer-e-Pakistan. ”



The rally was organized on the directives of Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof. Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Khushk by the Students’ Societies Center (SSC) in collaboration with the Microsoft Institute.



The rally started from the Students’ Societies Center and marched through various routes of the university campus. A large number of students, faculty members, officers and employees participated with zeal and fervor. Carrying national flags and chanting patriotic slogans, the participants expressed their love for the homeland and renewed their commitment to unity, peace and national development.



The rally was led by Dr. Ali Raza Lashari, Coordinator Students’ Societies Center, Dr. Inayat Bhatti, Chairman Department of Pakistan Studies, and Dr. Ali Nawaz Somroo, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science.



Addressing the participants, they highlighted the importance of Independence Day and urged the youth to play an active role in nation-building through education, innovation, volunteerism and responsible citizenship.



Among the participants were Ashiq Ali Mirbahar, Teaching Assistant, Akbar Ali, Salik Shaikh, members of the PMYDC Team SALU and students from various departments and student societies.



The organizers said the rally marked the official launch of a month-long program of Independence Day celebrations at SALU. A series of academic, cultural, literary, sports and community engagement activities have been planned throughout August to promote patriotism, youth leadership, national unity and public service, in line with the vision of the Vice Chancellor.



The event concluded with special prayers for the peace, prosperity, stability and progress of Pakistan.
