Hyderabad: Government College University Hyderabad organised a seminar and solidarity walk to mark Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Moazzam Ali Khan led the walk, which was attended by deans, teaching and administrative officers, faculty members and a large number of students.
The participants expressed their unwavering solidarity with the people of Kashmir. A one-minute silence was observed in memory of the Kashmiri martyrs and in protest against the continuing Indian atrocities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Special prayers were also offered for the freedom of Kashmir and for the peace, stability and prosperity of Pakistan.
Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Moazzam Ali Khan said that Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan and that the Pakistani nation stands firmly with its Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their struggle for the right to self-determination. He said India could not suppress the voice of the Kashmiri people through the use of force.
He urged the international community to take notice of human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and play an effective role in ensuring a just resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
Speaking about the Independence Day celebrations, the Vice Chancellor said that freedom is the fruit of the great sacrifices made by our forefathers. He stated that educational institutions have a vital responsibility to educate young people about the objectives of the Pakistan Movement and instil in them a spirit of national unity, responsibility and patriotism.
He urged students to contribute actively to the country’s progress, stability and prosperity through knowledge, hard work and positive character.
The university’s Independence Day celebrations commenced on August 1, with various academic, literary, speech and national activities being organised across the campus. Students are participating in these events with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit.
