Faisalabad: The speakers on Wednesday stressed that national unity was imperative to strengthen Kashmir cause and called upon the international community to play its role in addressing the longstanding Kashmir issue.
They were addressing a Kashmir Solidarity Day (Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir) ceremony held at Government Islamia Graduate College, Sargodha Road where a large number of teachers, students and heads of different departments were present.
College Principal Prof Dr Atiq Amjad chaired the event while Deputy Director Colleges Faisalabad Division Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman attended it as chief guest.
Addressing the participants, Dr Habib-ur-Rehman said that Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir was an important occasion to remind the world that India had changed the disputed status of occupied Jammu and Kashmir on August 05, 2019 which violated international laws and human rights principles.
He said that India’s claims of democracy and secularism had been exposed by the situation faced by the Kashmiri people.
He urged international institutions to play a practical role in finding a just and lasting solution to Kashmir dispute.
Principal Dr Atiq Amjad said that Kashmir was not merely a territorial issue but a matter deeply connected with the sentiments of Pakistani nation and Muslim community.
He stressed that expressing solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiri people was need of the hour. He urged the nation to raise their voice at every national and international forum with unity and harmony.
He appreciated Pakistan’s Kashmir policy and said that moral, political and diplomatic support for Kashmiri people would continue at every level.
Addressing the seminar, Head of Urdu Department and Staff Secretary Prof Syed Mujtaba Hassan, Head of Islamic Studies Department Hafiz Abdul Majeed, Prof Zahid Rafiq, Head of Political Science Department Prof Farooq Anwar, Prof Dr Ghulam Muhammad Nagrah, Prof Dr Zakir Hashmi and other speakers said that the decision of August 05, 2019 to revoke special constitutional status of occupied Jammu and Kashmir was a violation of United Nations resolutions and international laws.
They said that millions of Kashmiris continued to face difficulties due to alleged restrictions, oppression and human rights concerns while the silence of international community remained a matter of concern.
The speakers said that Kashmiri people had rendered immense sacrifices over decades for their right to self-determination and stressed the need for awakening the global conscience to ensure justice.
They emphasized that the message of Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir should be conveyed effectively to the young generation and support for Kashmiri people would continue.
Later, special prayers were offered for elevation of the ranks of Kashmir martyrs, peace and prosperity for Kashmiri people, and security, development and stability of Pakistan.
