Islamabad: The Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting on Wednesday constituted a three-member subcommittee to oversee the distribution of plots and flats reserved for journalists and media workers by the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA).
The subcommittee was constituted by Acting Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting, Senator Sarmad Ali during the committee’s meeting, held the other day.
Senator Syed Waqar Mehdi had been appointed convener of the subcommittee, while Senator Jan Muhammad and Senator Abdul Shakoor Khan would serve as members.
According to a notification issued by the Senate Secretariat, the subcommittee would oversee the timely and transparent distribution of plots and flats reserved for journalists and media workers by FGEHA.
It would also review the existing quotas allocated to journalists and media workers in plots and flats by the housing authority.
The subcommittee had been directed to submit its report to the Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting within 60 days from the date of its first meeting or 15 days after issuance of the notification, whichever was earlier.
The Senate Secretariat has asked all concerned departments and officials to extend full cooperation to the subcommittee to facilitate early completion of its task.
