Muzaffargarh: A solidarity rally was held in Muzaffargarh on Wednesday to mark Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir. The rally, organised under the directions of the Punjab government, was led by Deputy Commissioner Usman Tahir Jappa. The rally was started from the Deputy Commissioner’s office and culminated at Kutchehry chowk. It was attended by elected representatives, senior civil and police officials, religious scholars, members of the District Peace Committee, students, civil society representatives, government employees and a large number of citizens.
Participants carried Pakistani and Kashmiri flags, along with banners and placards expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people.
Addressing the participants, Deputy Commissioner Usman Tahir Jappa, said that the Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir was observed to draw international attention to the human rights violations in Indiana Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJandK) following India’s decision on August 5, 2019, to revoke the IIOJandK’s special constitutional status. He said that Kashmir was jugular vein of Pakistan and Pakistan would continue its political, diplomatic and moral support for the Kashmiri people and urged the international community to play its role in the resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
The participants strongly condemned the Indian atrocities in IIOJandK.
Among those attending the rally were Members of the Provincial Assembly Ajmal Chandia and Aoun Hameed Dogar, District Police Officer Syed Ghazanfar Ali Shah, Additional Deputy Commissioners Yousaf Cheena, Hafiz Muhammad Imran and Anam Hafeez, assistant commissioners, district officers, officials of various government departments, members of the District Peace Committee and a large number of citizens.
The event concluded with special prayers for the martyrs of IIOJandK, progress and prosperity of Pakistan and unity among the Muslim Ummah.
