Multan: Speakers at a seminar, held in connection with Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir on Wednesday, said that the Kashmir issue was not merely a territorial dispute but a matter of human rights, justice, peace and the right to self-determination, urging the younger generation to highlight the issue through academic research and peaceful means.
The seminar was organised by the Zakariya Debating Society under the supervision of the Directorate of Students Affairs, Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), at the Faculty of Pharmacy to express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Addressing the participants, Prof. Dr. Muqarrab Akbar, Prof. Dr. Fawad Rasool and Dr. Anees-ur-Rehman shed light on the historical background and the current situation in Kashmir. They expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people and stressed that the issue was closely linked with fundamental human rights, justice, peace and the internationally recognized right to self-determination. The speakers encouraged students to contribute positively by promoting awareness of the Kashmir issue through research, dialogue and peaceful advocacy.
The seminar aimed to educate students about various dimensions of the Kashmir dispute, the struggle of the Kashmiri people, their fundamental rights and the significance of the right to self-determination.
President of the Zakariya Debating Society, Muhammad Zawiyan Haroon, highlighted the significance of Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir and said that raising the voice of the Kashmiri people and creating awareness about their fundamental rights was a collective responsibility.
A large number of students, faculty members and participants from various academic departments attended the seminar. Special prayers were offered for the people of Kashmir at the conclusion of the event, while participants reaffirmed their commitment to continue raising the voice for peace, justice, human dignity and the right to self-determination.
