Faisalabad: Jhang Bazaar police arrested four alleged members of a swindler gang, while a fire broke out in the basement of a private bank on Sheikhupura Road on Wednesday.
According to a police spokesperson, the arrested suspects were identified as Noman, Waqar, Talha and Usman.
Police recovered Rs. 150, 000 in cash, an LCD, three goats and other items from their possession and registered a case against them.
Separately, a fire erupted in the basement of a United Bank Limited (UBL) branch at Gatwala.
According to Rescue 1122, a wooden structure used for sofas caught fire. The cause of the blaze could not be ascertained immediately. On receiving information, fire brigade teams rushed to the site and extinguished the fire after three hours of hectic efforts.
Bank equipment and official record kept on the upper floor of the basement remained safe while no loss of life was reported.
