Abbottabad: The district administration has imposed a two-month ban on kite flying in Abbottabad under Section 144 to ensure public safety and protect lives and property. According to an official notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Saleem Akram, the ban covers kite flying as well as the manufacture, sale, purchase, storage and transportation of kites.
The order also prohibits the use, production, sale, purchase and storage of metallic wire, glass-coated string (manjha) and other hazardous kite strings. The notification said the decision had been taken to prevent accidents and safeguard citizens from the dangers associated with kite flying. The ban took effect from August 6, 2026.
The district administration warned that anyone violating the order would face legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
