ISLAMABAD: Analysts on Friday appreciated Pakistan’s initiative for hosting Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) foreign minister conference on the Afghan current situation and for engaging Islamic countries for well-being of the neighbouring country.
Pakistan was playing a pivotal role to bridge Afghanistan with other countries, International Relations expert Dr. A.Z. Hilali said while speaking to Radio Pakistan’s current Affair Program.
The peaceful and stable Afghanistan was in its best interest of the region, he said adding, Pakistan was making all out efforts in collaboration with the friend countries to get international recognition of the Taliban government.
Moreover, efforts were being made to convince the United States to release the frozen assets of Afghanistan to avoid economic crisis, he added.
There was a need to chalk out a way to take Afghanistan out of a critical situation, he said adding, they had learnt that war was not the solution to any problem but dialogue was the only way forward.
IR Expert Dr. Huma Baqai added that it was the responsibility of the international community to respond to the situation not only for the sake of Afghan people but for global peace as well.
The issue had to be raised at all forums, she remarked.
It was the need of the hour that Muslim countries should get united and take appropriate measures to address problems faced by Afghanistan, she added.
Defense Analyst Maj Gen (Retd) Ijaz Awan said Pakistan had made an effort as Afghanistan was in deep crises particularly economic crises which was affecting day to day life of Afghan people who had been suffering for the last four decades because of the foreign invasion.
Pakistan is was rightly urging the world to provide assistance to the incumbent Afghan government and Afghan people, he added.
No one was more concerned than Pakistan as it shared the longest border with the war-torn country and was already hosting around three million Afghan refugees, he said.
