Sialkot: The Environment Protection Department has sealed 13 more hotels in Sialkot and Sambrial for failing to install suction hoods as part of an ongoing crackdown against smog and air pollution.
According to an Environment Protection Department spokesperson, the action was taken on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Awais Mushtaq. Earlier, 12 hotels had also been sealed for violating environmental regulations.
The sealed hotels in Sialkot include Qadir Khan Hotel, K Butt Family Restaurant and Khan Hotel on Eminabad Road; Love of Pind, Shahbaz Tikka and Akbar Plaza on Daska Road; and Al-Khair Tikka on Khadim Ali Road.
In Sambrial, Waqas Tikka Shop, Candle Shinwari, Dogar Sajji, Aslam Restaurant, Al-Hafa Restaurant, Chaska Shinwari and Khan Shinwari were sealed.
Deputy Director Environment Pakiza Bukhari urged hotel owners to take the department’s warnings seriously and install suction hoods without further delay. She said closures caused financial losses to businesses and stressed the need for compliance with environmental regulations to control air pollution and smog.
