Islamabad: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration have intensified efforts to control dengue, with 16 people detained during daily enforcement operations against individuals found violating dengue prevention guidelines and creating conditions that support mosquito breeding.
Officials said the actions are part of ongoing measures to reduce the risk of dengue transmission across the city.
According to the spokesman of ICT administration, the authority continues daily operations against violations linked to dengue prevention. Assistant Commissioners are conducting inspections in various sectors and localities to identify locations where stagnant water and other conditions may contribute to the breeding of dengue-carrying mosquitoes.
According to officials, Assistant Commissioner Shalimar carried out inspections in Sector G-10, where five individuals were taken into custody for violations of dengue-related standard operating procedures (SOPs). The action was taken after authorities found conditions that could facilitate larval growth and increase the risk of mosquito breeding.
In separate operations conducted across other areas of the capital, Assistant Commissioners detained 11 more individuals for similar violations. The administration stated that enforcement teams are monitoring residential, commercial and public areas to ensure compliance with dengue prevention measures.
Officials said the campaign is aimed at eliminating potential breeding sites and encouraging public cooperation in maintaining a clean environment. Inspections are being conducted on a regular basis, and action is being taken wherever violations are identified.
The district administration urged residents to play their role in preventing the spread of dengue by strictly following the prescribed SOPs. Citizens have been advised to avoid water accumulation in homes, rooftops, vacant plots, construction sites and surrounding areas where mosquitoes can breed.
Authorities emphasized that public cooperation remains essential for controlling dengue and reducing health risks in the city. They noted that enforcement actions will continue on a daily basis and that violations of dengue prevention regulations may lead to legal action.
The administration appealed to all residents to remain vigilant and ensure compliance with dengue safety measures so that collective efforts can help limit the spread of the disease and protect public health across Islamabad.
