Faisalabad: Two motorcyclists were killed in an accident in the area of Saddar Samundri police station.

A Rescue 1122 spokesman said on Wednesday that a speeding motorcycle rammed into a dumper near GO petrol pump on Sahiwal Road in Samundri.

As a result, Lahore-based motorcyclists including 24-year-old Khawar Khalil and 27-year-old Hamza Ikram received critical injuries and died on the spot before getting any medical assistance. Receiving information, Rescue 1122 personnel rushed to the spot and handed over the bodies to Saddar Samundri Police for legal proceedings, he added.

Bahawalpur: The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) has implemented State Bank of Pakistan’s RAAST dynamic QR-based digital instant fee payment system via Bank Alfalah Islamic.

According to an official press release issued here, ‘The implementation is part of the Prime Minister’s National Initiative for transition towards a cashless Pakistan, converting all payments and receipts to digital mode,’it said, adding that this implementation would allow students and parents to make fee payments from any banking application or counter using a unique RAAST Dynamic QR code generated for every transaction, ensuring enhanced security, two-step authentication, and real-time payment verification.

It further said that the initiative would provide fast and secure transactions, reduce reliance on cash, improve financial inclusion, and enable seamless interoperability among banks, microfinance institutions, fintechs, and digital wallets through Pakistan’s RAAST payment infrastructure. Vice Chancellor, IUB, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran welcomed the initiative, stating that it marks another important milestone in IUB’s digital transformation journey. He added that the University is proud to introduce a fully integrated RAAST Dynamic QR-Based Digital Instant Fee Payment System, reinforcing its commitment to innovation, transparency, and the vision of becoming a Smart Campus.

Faisalabad: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Nauman Siddique has said that the district administration has decided to transform the General Bus Stand into a state-of-the-art transport terminal featuring modern passenger facilities and improved operational infrastructure to enhance travel convenience and support the transport sector.

Chairing a meeting, he reviewed the proposed three-dimensional (3D) design of the project and expressed satisfaction over the comprehensive plan for converting the existing bus stand into a modern transport hub equipped with quality public amenities.

He directed the relevant departments to initiate work on the construction, renovation and beautification of General Bus Stand in accordance with the approved 3D design.

He stressed that the project should be executed efficiently and in line with modern urban planning standards.

He said that the upgraded terminal would provide safe, comfortable and organized travel environment while facilitating transport operators through improved infrastructure and better operational arrangements.

This project would also contribute to improve transport network of the city besides enhancing the overall public service delivery system, he added.

Earlier, Secretary District Regional Transport Authority (DRTA) Muhammad Rashid briefed the deputy commissioner bout the proposed redevelopment plan.

He informed that the upgraded terminal would include aesthetically designed entry and exit gates, spacious waiting areas, administrative offices, a petrol filling station, a food street, a children’s play area, a hotel, a mosque, dedicated parking facilities, cargo offices, a designated vending area, vehicle service facilities and separate boarding bays for air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned buses.
