Muzaffargarh: Police on Sunday traced a blind robbery case involving millions of rupees and arrested six accused, including active police personnel, who had staged a fake checkpoint to pull off the heist.

According to police officials, the major breakthrough came following an intensive investigation led by the Special Branch, which exposed the involvement of Punjab Police and Jail Police personnel in the daylight robbery committed two months ago.

The incident occurred on May 9, when the accused set up a fake picket at Rakh Khanpur on the outskirts of Muzaffargarh, intercepted a truck driver, and looted 18 kilograms of silver worth Rs 17.5 million alongside hundreds of thousands of rupees in cash before fleeing the scene.

The case was successfully traced through a meticulous review of CCTV footage and tireless intelligence gathering by a Special Branch team led by District Officer DSP Zaki Rehan Langrial. Following the technical trace, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) City and the Station House Officer (SHO) City constituted special teams to round up the culprits.

Police sources confirmed that three suspects, including two police employees, have already been taken into custody after being verified through video evidence. Among the arrested officials is a police constable who was deployed as a driver for a local judicial officer.

A case was registered against six individuals at the City Police Station last night immediately after their involvement came to light.

Law enforcement officials stated that further investigation was underway to establish the identities of the remaining accomplices.

Dera ismail khan: Assistant Commissioner Paharpur Shahab Ahmad Khan, acting on public complaints, conducted surprise inspections of several milk shops in Rangpur and Paharpur along with Veterinary Officer Dr. Saghir Imdad and the Mobile Testing Laboratory team.

During the inspection, the team examined the quality of milk, checked for adulteration, and reviewed hygiene, sanitation, and compliance with public health standards.

Officials found extremely poor sanitary conditions at two milk shops in Rangpur. The assistant commissioner directed the relevant authorities to cancel the licences of the shopkeepers and initiate legal proceedings against them.

In a separate inspection in Paharpur, excessive water content was detected in the milk being sold by one vendor. The shop was immediately sealed, and legal action was initiated against the owner.

The district administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring the supply of safe and hygienic food items and warned that strict action would continue against those involved in the sale of adulterated or substandard milk.

Khanspur: A three-day Youth Networking and Skills Capacity Building Summer Camp concluded in Khanspur, Ayubia on Sunday, bringing together young men and women from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for an intensive programme focused on leadership, professional development and networking. Organised by the non-profit organisation CLADO in collaboration with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Youth Affairs Department, the camp attracted participants from multiple districts seeking to enhance their academic and career prospects.

Throughout the programme, experts from various professional fields conducted interactive workshops on leadership, communication, career planning and emerging educational opportunities. Participants also received guidance on scholarship programmes and strategies for building professional networks to support their future ambitions.

CLADO Chief Executive Officer Abdur Rehman said the initiative was designed to equip young people with practical skills while creating meaningful networking opportunities that would help them succeed in higher education and the job market. Trainer Zafar Bangash noted that many young people in the province lacked access to confidence-building and exposure opportunities, limiting their personal and professional growth, and said the camp sought to bridge that gap through structured mentoring and skills development.

The organisers expressed satisfaction with the enthusiastic participation of the youth and voiced hope that similar programmes would be expanded across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to strengthen youth engagement, nurture leadership potential and prepare young people for future educational and professional challenges.

Peshawar: The local authorities in Mansehra district have declared an emergency following ongoing monsoon rains, as heavy downpours triggered flash flooding in seasonal streams in the upper areas of Balakot, leaving several vehicles stranded and disrupting traffic.

According to Rescue 1122 on Sunday, intense rainfall caused a significant rise in water levels in seasonal streams across Balakot, Damgala, Shogran and Boli. Landslides at multiple locations also blocked roads, affecting the flow of traffic.

On the instructions of District Emergency Officer Abrar Ali, Rescue 1122’s Water Rescue and Disaster Response teams, deployed at temporary rescue points, immediately reached the affected areas during routine patrols.

Rescue personnel safely evacuated stranded residents and tourists from areas near flooded streams, moved several vehicles to secure locations and helped restore traffic.

Rescue 1122 Mansehra has urged residents and tourists to avoid crossing flooded streams, flash flood channels and fast-flowing water during heavy rains. The department also advised the public to contact Rescue 1122 immediately in case of any emergency.

Rawalpindi: Residents of Rawalpindi are facing severe difficulties due to an ongoing water shortage in several parts of the city. With irregular or insufficient public water supply, many families have been forced to depend on private water tankers to meet their daily needs.

According to local residents, areas including Awan Town, Qasim Abad, Juma Market, British Homes, the surroundings of Peshawar Road, and Dhok Mustaqeem are among the worst affected.

They allege that private tanker operators are taking advantage of the situation by charging excessive prices. A water tanker that normally costs around Rs2,000 is reportedly being sold for as much as Rs7,000 to Rs8,000 in some localities.

Residents also complain about long waiting times for water deliveries, saying that despite paying high prices, tankers often arrive after several hours, causing serious inconvenience to families, particularly women, children, and elderly people.

Citizens have appealed to the district administration and the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to take immediate action to improve water supply in affected areas, regulate tanker charges, and ensure that residents have access to affordable and timely water services.

Rawalpindi: Police have arrested two suspects for mobile phone snatching incident involving a female school teacher that occurred three days ago.

According to police spokesperson, the police registered a case immediately after the incident and launched an investigation.

Using technical and human intelligence, investigators traced and arrested the suspects.

SP Saddar Anum Sher appreciated the performance of Gujar Khan police and said the accused would be produced before the court with substantial evidence to ensure the case proceeds in accordance with the law.

Rawalpindi Police reiterated their commitment to take prompt action against criminal elements and ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
