Quetta: Under the vision of Chief Minister of Balochistan, steps are being taken to employ educated youth in Nasirabad district.

In light of the instructions of Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Provincial Minister for Communications and Works Mir Saleem Khan Khosa and Provincial Secretary Babar Khan, interviews were held for the posts of Assistant Computer Operator at BandR Naseerabad under the leadership of Chief Engineer Communications and Works Naseerabad Zone Bashir Nasir.

The committee included Admin Officer Amanullah Bangulzai, Superintending Engineers Fida Hussain Khosa, Arsala Khan Rind, Superintendent of the Commissioner’s Office Sherullah Khosa, Muhammad Iqbal Marri and Muhammad Akram Umrani, while Sub-Divisional Officers Abid Ali Pahanur and Ghulam Ishaq Mastoi were also present on the occasion.

Chief Engineer Bashir Nasir, while examining the candidates’ papers, said that a total of 37 shortlisted candidates for Assistant Computer Operator have been interviewed and according to the government’s vision, the appointment of deserving and qualified candidates is being ensured based on complete transparency, merit and qualification.

After the appointment of new candidates, public services would be rendered in a better sense and employment could also be provided to educated youth.

Quetta: Chairman Standing Committee on Defence Production, Senator Muhammad Abdul Qadir on Wednesday said that for the first time in the 78-year history of Pakistan, Pakistan Railways has crossed the milestone of earning more than Rs 115 billion during the financial year 2025-26.

He said that this achievement is a testament to the tireless work of the Railways Department, effective management strategy and the commitment of the entire team.

In his statement issued here, he said that in the financial year 2025-26, Pakistan Railways earned Rs 50.5 billion from the passenger sector, Rs 41 billion from the freight sector, Rs 11.99 billion from land revenue, Rs 3.18 billion from miscellaneous coaching income, and Rs 1.96 billion from scrap.

‘The total income increased by 24.19 percent while the freight sector increased by 27.78 percent, which is an important milestone in the history of Pakistan Railways’, he mentioned.

Senator Muhammad Abdul Qadir said that the Railways has proven that through better management, transparency and effective supervision, government institutions could significantly improve their financial performance by generating significant revenues not only from its traditional sectors but also from scrap and other commercial activities.

He said that if Pakistan Railways could improve its financial condition and generate a revenue of Rs 115 billion in a limited period of time, then other government institutions would also become financially stable by controlling losses through reforms, accountability and effective management measures, Pakistan Railways has set an example for other national institutions to follow with its performance.

The Chairman of the Standing Committee said that this success of Pakistan Railways is not the achievement of a single individual but the result of the joint efforts of the entire team including gang men, workers, engineers, technical staff, officers and management.

He hoped that in the financial year 2026-27, the Railways would further accelerate its journey of development by generating revenue of Rs 65 billion from the freight sector and Rs 50 billion from the passenger sector as per its set targets.

He further said that if Pakistan Railways could identify and overcome its weaknesses, other government agencies would also make a positive impact on the national economy through reforms, professional management and accountability.

He maintained that the recent success of Pakistan Railways is a testament to the fact that strong leadership, clear strategy and teamwork could bring about a significant change in the performance of government agencies.

Quetta: Deputy Inspector General of Police Quetta Imran Shaukat announced on Wednesday that five suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a local restaurant’s owner, Muhammad Hashim Noorzai.

Imran Shaukat revealed that the prime suspect, Hikmatullah Noorzai, confessed to planning the killing with his brother, Saadullah Noorzai, over a business dispute worth approximately Rs. 160 million. Saadullah remains at large, with police teams conducting raids to secure his arrest.

According to investigators, Hikmatullah, accompanied by his gunmen Jan Muhammad Noorzai and Amanullah Noorzai, pursued the victim in a black Toyota Revo registered under his brother’s name. At an opportune moment, they intercepted Hashim Noorzai’s vehicle and opened fire. Hikmatullah first shot from inside the car, then stepped out to fire again, killing the victim on the spot.

DIG Imran Shaukat explained that the case, which occurred on June 27, 2026, was handed over to the Serious Crime Investigation Wing (SCIW) due to its sensitivity. SCIW formed three specialized teams from the Homicide Unit and Analysis Wing, employing modern forensic and technical methods. CCTV footage, digital forensics, and technical evidence helped trace the suspects’ movements.

Two motorcyclists, Mir Khan and Dilawar Khan, were arrested for conducting reconnaissance of the victim’s home and daily routine. Their information led to the capture of Hikmatullah, who confessed to the crime.

Among those detained are two men accused of conducting surveillance of the victim. Police also recovered the murder weapon during the investigation.

Jan Muhammad and Amanullah were arrested while attempting to flee in a white Toyota Altis. Police recovered a cache of weapons, including a Kalashnikov, an LMG with ammunition, and four rifles, which the suspects were trying to smuggle out of the city.

Imran Shaukat noted that Saadullah Noorzai, the fugitive brother, even attended the victim’s funeral and protest sit-in to deflect suspicion. He emphasized that Quetta Police had solved the case in record time, underscoring their commitment to protecting lives and property.

Highlighting SCIW’s recent successes, Imran Shaukat said the wing had traced five blind murder cases in the past two months using advanced technology. These included the May 9 killing of a youth named Waleed in Gawalmandi, solved through CCTV and tenancy records, and the April 30 discovery of Javed Sheikh’s body in Zarghoonabad, where Shah Muhammad was arrested with the murder weapon. In another case, SCIW identified the prime suspect in the May 24 murder of Mehmood Khan in Shalkot through CCTV and call data records.

The DIG urged citizens to register tenancy forms with local police stations to aid in identifying criminal elements. He reaffirmed that SCIW remains committed to bringing perpetrators of serious crimes to justice through scientific investigation and professional inquiry.
