Spine surgeon fixes patient’s curved spine


Multan: Renowned South Punjab spine surgeon Dr Mahmood Ahmed has successfully balanced position (near straightened) a patient’s curved spine through surgery at a local hospital. The patient will be able to walk within two days and resume a normal routine within a few weeks, Dr Mahmood Ahmed said.



The spine specialist said fears surrounding scoliosis surgery among the public had no medical basis and were unfounded. He said the procedure was recognised worldwide as a safe, effective and reliable treatment option, made possible by modern medical technology and experienced surgeons.



Explaining the procedure, Dr Mahmood Ahmed said titanium rods and specialised screws were used to bring the spine into a balanced position during scoliosis surgery. These rods and screws are fused with the vertebrae to halt further curvature and provide the patient with a strong, stable spine.



He said the surgery’s objective was not to make the spine completely straight, but to balance and stabilise it enough to improve the patient’s posture, reduce pain and prevent the condition from progressing further.



Experts said most patients begin walking one to two days after the operation, though complete recovery takes a few months. Pain, physical deformity and difficulties in daily life, however, decrease significantly after surgery.



He added that although scoliosis surgery was a major and sensitive procedure, modern medical protocols and equipment had made it a reliable and successful treatment for complex spinal problems, helping thousands of patients return to healthy, active lives.

Comprehensive strategy vital for provision of equal access to basic facilities to people: Governor


Quetta: Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhel on Wednesday said that to bridge the gap between rural and urban areas, we need a comprehensive strategy that can provide equal access to all basic facilities and opportunities to citizens.

He said that without a clear vision and wise planning, the gap between villages and big cities would increase and the dream of equal development could remain unfulfilled, in this regard, the role of all policy makers and elected representatives of the people is very important, we are taking revolutionary steps to bridge these existing gaps.

He expressed these views while talking to various delegations at the Governor House, Quetta.

On this occasion, Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhel said that it is a fact that education is the foundation of any kind of development, knowledge is not just a personal benefit but a collective asset and a guarantee of a bright future.

He said that infrastructure is the backbone of any balanced development plan, by building nationa
l highways, we could connect the people of rural areas with major economic and commercial markets, this would enable farmers and traders to access new opportunities, reduce costs and bring our people closer to each other.

The Governor Balochistan said that equitable development is not just a dream but an economic and social necessity, when we lift up the rural areas which boost up the entire province when we invest in education, we open new avenues of development, we move forward together.

He said that to realize the dream of an educated and developed Balochistan, we must make the interests of the people alliance and center of all policies and projects and in this it is the key to our common and successful future.

Federal Ombudsman solves issue of benevolent fund Rs 0.2 million for petitioner


Quetta: Federal Ombudsman Regional Office Quetta solved issue of monthly benevolent fund of Rs 230,000 for the petitioner Kubra Yaseen.



According to the details, on order of Federal Ombudsman, moreover, Rs 230,000 was also paid in arrears to the petitioner by concerned department.



The petitioner, Kubra Yaseen, said that she had applied to the concerned department several times for the payment of the benevolent fund, but there was no hearing.



Therefore, to seek justice, she contacted the Federal Ombudsman Regional Office Quetta and filed a petition against the negligence and delay of the concerned department.



As soon as the application was received, the Federal Ombudsman Regional Office Quetta initiated a timely inquiry and summoned the concerned department and started an immediate hearing of the case.



During the hearing, the concerned department could not give any satisfactory response. Therefore, the Federal Ombudsman issued orders that the benevolent fund should be paid to the petitioner as soon as possible.



As soon as the orders were received, the concerned department released the petitioner’s monthly benevolent fund and paid Rs 230,000 towards the arrears. The petitioner thanked the Federal Ombudsman for this timely and fair decision.
