Multan: Multan’s infrastructure transformation is gathering significant momentum as the district administration accelerates work on major development projects under the special directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. Muhammad Faisal Saleem chaired a meeting to review the progress of ongoing development schemes. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance) Mohsin Nisar and senior officials from the relevant departments attended the meeting and received detailed briefings on the status of key projects.

The Deputy Commissioner said the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is giving special attention to upgrading Multan’s infrastructure. He noted that multi-billion-rupee development works on Qila Kohna, Brand Road and Multan Avenue are progressing at a rapid pace.

He added that the upgradation of Nishtar Road and Hussain Agahi would be completed at the earliest to improve traffic flow and provide better civic facilities to residents.

Dr. Faisal Saleem directed all concerned departments to ensure strict monitoring and timely completion of development projects so that the public could benefit from the improved infrastructure without delay.

Peshawar: Abdul Razzaq, the brother of Awami National Party (ANP) leader Dr. Tariq was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Loi Sam area of Bajaur district on Tuesday.

According to initial police report, unknown armed men opened fire on Abdul Razzaq, leaving him critically injured.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The motive behind the attack remains unknown.

Law enforcers have launched an investigation into the incident and are collecting evidence to identify and arrest those responsible.

Vehari: Police in Vehari district, under Multan Region, recovered outstanding Safe City e-challan dues of Rs58,000 from a defaulter following a prompt response to an alert.

According to details, Head Constable Muhammad Javed (10150/HC), deployed at Pakhi Mor police post, received information during routine patrolling from the Safe City Authority Lahore (042-9907000) that a motorcycle bearing registration ALK-5446, against which e-challans worth Rs58,000 were pending, was travelling from Vehari towards Sahiwal.

On receiving the information, police set up a checkpoint at Adda Pakhi Mor and successfully intercepted the suspect motorcycle. The rider was identified as Muhammad Mushtaq son of Muhammad Hussain, resident of 90/9-L, Sahiwal.

Police said the rider paid the entire outstanding amount on the spot through a PSID issued by the Safe City Authority Lahore. The motorcycle was released after payment was verified, in line with the authority’s instructions.

Police urged citizens to comply with traffic laws and clear their pending e-challans in time, warning that legal action would be taken against those who fail to do so.

Gujrat: Deputy Commissioner Gujrat Noor-ul-Ain Qureshi chaired a meeting of the District Overseas Pakistanis Committee to review pending complaints and applications submitted by overseas Pakistanis.

According to official sources, the committee reviewed 87 cases relating to various departments, including police, revenue, the District Health Authority, the District Education Authority, the Deputy Director Local Government (DDLG) office and other departments.

The sources said that 37 cases were disposed of in the light of reports and affidavits submitted by the relevant departments, while the remaining cases were referred to the concerned departments with directions to submit complete reports within one week to ensure their early disposal on merit.

Additional Commissioner Headquarters (ACHR) Waqas Mehboob, Law Officer Jamshed Shah, officers of the relevant departments and representatives of the district police attended the meeting.

Dera ismail khan: The district police have arrested seven suspects during separate operations against theft, robbery and gambling, recovering a stolen motorcycle, cash and a pistol.

The operations were carried out by Cantt Police under the supervision of SP City Division Muhammad Nauman on the directives of District Police Officer Ziauddin Ahmad.

According to police, a suspect identified as Arsalan, son of Azizullah and a resident of Islamia Colony, was arrested for his alleged involvement in theft and robbery cases. During the operation, police recovered one stolen motorcycle and Rs50,000 believed to be the proceeds from its sale.

In a separate raid, police busted a gambling den and arrested seven individuals allegedly involved in gambling activities. The police also recovered Rs27,000 after the search of the suspects, Rs17,300 in betting money, one pistol and four rounds of ammunition.

The police have registered separate cases against the suspects and launched further investigation.

Gujrat: Students of the University of Gujrat (UoG) visited Safe City Gujrat under the Friends of Police Internship Programme to gain practical exposure to modern policing, public safety and smart city operations.

According to official sources, the students were briefed on the operational framework of the Safe City project and the use of advanced technology to improve policing and ensure public safety.

The sources said DSP Nawaz Gujjar delivered a detailed briefing on various Safe City initiatives, the project’s operational system and the role of modern technology in enhancing law enforcement and public service delivery.

The visit was aimed at familiarizing students with contemporary policing practices and raising awareness about technology-driven public safety systems.
