Chiniot: In line with CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision, the crackdown on drug peddlers continues in Chiniot, where improved prosecution led the court announced a verdict in the Thana Sadar drug case.

The court sentenced drug peddler Sikandar Hayat to 9 years in prison and a fine of Rs. 80,000 upon being found guilty. Thana Sadar Police had arrested Sikandar Hayat after recovering 1380 grams of hashish.

A case was registered against the drug peddler in Thana Sadar under the provisions of the Narcotics Act. In this regard, District Police Officer Dr. Naveed Atif said that the evidence is being presented before the court in the best possible manner along with standard investigation.

A large-scale crackdown is underway across the district to combat drugs, including a police awareness campaign. He further said that drugs will be eradicated by taking practical steps to secure the future of our youth, adding that public cooperation is very important for the complete eradication of drugs.

Dera ismail khan: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Halal Food Authority (HFA) seized and destroyed 1,400 litres of chemically adulterated milk during a major enforcement operation.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of KPHFA Assistant Director Dr. Wasif Khan.

During the inspection, officials used a modern Mobile Food Testing Laboratory along with a UVAS testing kit to examine the milk. Laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of harmful chemicals, rendering the milk unsafe for human consumption.

The entire quantity of contaminated milk was destroyed on the spot to prevent it from reaching consumers.

The Halal Food Authority reiterated its commitment to ensuring the availability of safe and quality food, adding that strict legal action is being taken against those involved in food adulteration.

Kohat: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kohat, Muhammad Nawaz, visited the Mary Cricket Ground to inspect the designated site for the proposed ‘Jawan Markaz’ (Youth Center).

During the visit, the Director of Works, Sports and Youth Affairs, and the District Youth Officer briefed the DC on the scope of the project and the significance of the Jawan Markaz in empowering the youth of the district. The officials also addressed and resolved concerns raised by the local Cricket Association regarding the project site.

He directed the concerned authorities to ensure steady progress on the project while addressing all relevant factors, aiming to provide the district’s youth with modern and high-quality facilities.

Sargodha: Three people,including two women were killed after a speeding dumper rammed into a motorcycle near Langar Wala Bridge in the jurisdiction of Sahiwal police station on Tuesday.

According to police,the deceased were identified as Kaneez Fatima(50),Umm-e-Kalsoom(33) and Kamran(20).

Police said that the victims were traveling to Sargodha on a motorcycle when the dumper struck them near Langar Wala Bridge.All three died on the spot.

Police and Rescue 1122 personnel reached the scene,shifted the bodies to a hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Further investigation was underway.

Kohat: Taking a significant step to protect laborers from the ongoing extreme heat and harsh weather conditions, the district administration of Kohat has established a dedicated shelter for daily-wage workers.

The facility has been set up on Pindi Road, near the Government Postgraduate College. The initiative aims to provide temporary relief and a safe, shaded environment for laborers who wait for work during the day, protecting them from the intense sun and heatstroke risks.

The district administration stated that it will continue to prioritize public welfare initiatives and is dedicated to providing maximum facilities to citizens to ensure their safety and well-being.

Rawalpindi: Punjab Health Department has decided to recruitment over 1,500 temporary positions under the Anti-Dengue Program in Rawalpindi district.

According to the announcement, the immediate hirings include 2 vacancy for an entomologist.

Additionally, 1,500 vacancies are open for sanitary patrols, comprising men and women. The required educational qualification for these positions is matriculation or its equivalent, and candidates must possess the ability to operate an Android smartphone.

The recruitments are being made on a purely temporary, daily-wage basis specifically for the dengue season. Eligible male and female candidates can appear for interviews according to their respective tehsil or union council quotas, while relaxation in the upper age limit will be provided as per government policy, said a health official.
