Chiniot: In line with CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision, the crackdown on drug peddlers continues in Chiniot, where improved prosecution led the court announced a verdict in the Thana Sadar drug case.
The court sentenced drug peddler Sikandar Hayat to 9 years in prison and a fine of Rs. 80,000 upon being found guilty. Thana Sadar Police had arrested Sikandar Hayat after recovering 1380 grams of hashish.
A case was registered against the drug peddler in Thana Sadar under the provisions of the Narcotics Act. In this regard, District Police Officer Dr. Naveed Atif said that the evidence is being presented before the court in the best possible manner along with standard investigation.
A large-scale crackdown is underway across the district to combat drugs, including a police awareness campaign. He further said that drugs will be eradicated by taking practical steps to secure the future of our youth, adding that public cooperation is very important for the complete eradication of drugs.
