Karachi: Pakistan Meteorological Department on Monday forecast very hot and humid weather in most districts of the Sindh province during the next 24 hours. However, partly cloudy weather conditions are expected in coastal areas. Mainly, very hot and humid weather is likely to prevail in the province.

Karachi: Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi has directed the Deputy Commissioners to continue the campaign against encroachments affecting the traffic flow in their respective districts and ensure that encroachments are prevented on roads and footpaths. He further said in his direction roadside hotels should be removed with due diligence and action should be taken against the involved persons as per the law.

The Commissioner reviewed the reports of actions submitted to the Commissioner Karachi by various Deputy Commissioners regarding the efforts being carried out for the price control of essential commodities, removal of encroachments and other activities for the improvement of civic facilities.

According to the handout issued by the Commissioner’s Office, Assistant Commissioner SITE Muhammad Yousuf has taken full action to remove encroachments established in Sher Shah since the commencement of Maripur Road Lyari Expressway.

According to the report submitted to the Commissioner, There were two major encroachments of permanent nature (hard encroachments).

There was an illegal wood market established under the bridge, which was completely demolished and removed. – In one of the encroachments, there was illegal occupation by a construction company. The company had erected cattle shed and other unauthorized structures and occupied government land. All these encroachments were demolished.

According to the report, in addition to the constructions, the operation also removed the large illegal parking lot established in a systematic manner over a large area. According to the Assistant Commissioner, this large illegal parking lot was a problem for traffic. About 50 to 80 illegally parked vehicles (including both private and commercial vehicles) were removed from the area. The Anti-Encroachment Force, KMC and the local police participated and supported the operation.

Assistant Commissioner North Nazimabad Naimat Khan took action in North Nazimabad and removed the encroachments on the footpaths and roadside hotels.

According to the Assistant Commissioner, he seized all the chairs and tables on the roadside that were being used illegally in roadside hotels. While Assistant Commissioner Bin Qasim Sajjad Ansari took action against the sale of LPG violating the official price at Ghaghar Phatak in Bin Qasim Sub-Division. He took action against a total of three LPG shops. One shop was sealed in the operation. While three shops were fined Rs. 10,000.

He said Captain Sher Khan Shaheed’s eternal sacrifice is a golden chapter in the nation’s history.

The Governor of Sindh said that brave son of the nation wrote a new chapter of courage during the Kargil conflict.

He said that brave sons like Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed are the pride of this land.

Hashmi said that the nation will never forget the sacrifice of this great hero, who was awarded the Nishan-e-Haider.

The martyrs of the Pakistan Army are the pride of our nation and the honor of the country, he said adding he offered prayers for the elevation of the ranks of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed.

Karachi: Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that July 5 will forever remain the darkest wound on Pakistan’s democratic soul, the day when the people’s mandate was stolen,democracy was put in chains and the hopes of millions were extinguished by dictatorship.

In his message on the completion of 49 years of the Black Day of July 5, he said that General Zia-ul-Haq’s coup was not merely the overthrow of the country’s first elected government led by Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, but an assault on the people’s fundamental right to shape their destiny through the vote.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that although Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was imprisoned, subjected to a politically motivated trial and ultimately embraced martyrdom, he never bowed before tyranny.

“The tin-pot dictator believed he could silence Bhutto,” he said, “but instead, he awakened the conscience of an entire nation. Shaheed Bhutto’s vision could not be imprisoned, his voice could not be hanged, and his dream of a democratic, progressive and egalitarian Pakistan continues to inspire generations.”

Paying glowing tribute to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, he said that following the martyrdom of Quaid-e-Awam, she steadfastly fought to overcome the gravest challenges imposed upon the country and, throughout her life, remained an enduring symbol of hope for the people of Pakistan.

He also paid tribute to countless Jiyalas who endured imprisonment, torture, persecution and even martyrdom, yet never abandoned the cause of democracy. Their sacrifices, he said, transformed suffering into hope and resistance into an enduring democratic movement.

Reaffirming the PPP’s unwavering commitment to constitutional supremacy, parliamentary democracy, an independent judiciary and provincial autonomy, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said the Party’s struggle for democracy did not end with its restoration and would continue wherever the Constitution or the people’s mandate is threatened.

Concluding his message, he said, “Forty-nine years later, July 5 remains a solemn reminder that nations rise through democracy, constitutionalism, and the sovereignty of the people-not through coercion. We honour our martyrs by carrying forward their mission with the unshakeable faith that the power of the ballot shall always prevail over the power of the bullet.”
