Faisalabad: Police claimed on Sunday to have arrested 54 proclaimed offenders from various parts of the district during the past 24 hours. In a crackdown, the police raided at various localities and arrested outlaws. Some of the them were identified as Shahroz, Shahid, Tahir, Naveed, Rizwan, Saif and Amin. The outlaws were wanted by police in various criminal cases of robbery, theft, criminal breach of trust and bogus cheque fraud. Further investigation was underway.

Rawalpindi: Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Maliha Sehar directed price magistrates to intensify enforcement against profiteers and ensure the availability of essential commodities at officially notified prices across the district.

Chairing a meeting of price magistrates, the ADC (General) reviewed the implementation of price control measures, the availability of essential items, field performance and enforcement actions against overcharging, hoarding and profiteering. She instructed all price magistrates to strengthen daily inspections of markets, bazaars and commercial centres and ensure strict compliance with the price lists notified by the Punjab government.

She also ordered indiscriminate legal action against traders involved in overpricing, hoarding, creating artificial shortages and charging excessive profits.

During the meeting, officials were informed that from July 1 to July 27, 2026, price magistrates carried out 82, 273 inspections across the district. As a result, 13, 543 violators were fined a total of Rs3, 815, 498.

Authorities also sealed 102 shops and business establishments and arrested 20 individuals for violating price control regulations.

Speaking on the occasion, Maliha Sehar said ensuring the availability of essential commodities at government-prescribed rates remained the district administration’s top priority.

She warned that negligence in enforcing price control measures would not be tolerated and directed price magistrates to increase their field presence, promptly address public complaints and further strengthen the price control campaign to provide maximum relief to consumers.

Kohat: A 31-year-old motorist was shot dead by unidentified armed men on Sheikhan Road here, local sources reported.

According to police sources, unknown assailants opened fire on a motor car late at night on Sheikhan Road, resulting in the immediate death of the rider.

The deceased was later identified as Shahab Dad, a resident of Mohallah Umer Khel, Sheikhan.

Further investigations are expected to be underway to trace and apprehend the culprits behind the targeted attack.

Multan: Former President Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Mian Rashid Iqbal has expressed confidence that the Founders Group will comfortably win the upcoming MCCI elections, citing its longstanding contributions to the business community and the chamber’s development.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, Director of Servo Motor Oil, Mian Rashid Iqbal said that the Founders Group had played a pivotal role in establishing the Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and later completed the construction of its impressive building without collecting donations from members or receiving government funding.

He said the establishment of the Multan Dry Port Trust was made possible through the efforts of prominent Founders Group leaders, including Mian Farid Mughis A. Sheikh, Mian Tanveer A. Sheikh, Malik Israr Ahmed Awan, Khawaja Yousaf, Khawaja Younis, Shamim Khan and the family of late Khawaja Hussain.

He said the dry port had provided exporters with customs clearance and export facilities in Multan, eliminating the need to transport goods to other cities and resolving long-standing customs-related issues.

The former chamber president said past presidents elected by the Founders Group also played a significant role in the establishment of Multan International Airport and its cargo facilities, enabling exporters from South Punjab to ship fruits and vegetables directly from Multan.

Previously, traders had to transport export consignments to Lahore or Karachi, resulting in additional costs and delays, he added.

Ex MCCI president stated that the group’s consistent advocacy also contributed to the construction of the Head Muhammad Wala Bridge, which improved connectivity between Multan, Muzaffargarh and Dera Ghazi Khan and facilitated trade and commercial activities in the region.

He said the Founders Group had always raised a strong voice for resolving the issues faced by traders and industrialists and would continue to safeguard their interests in the future.

Referring to the chamber’s previous elections, he said the overwhelming support of industrialists and exporters had enabled the Founders Group to secure a decisive victory.

He expressed the confidence that, owing to its outstanding past performance and services to the business community, the group would once again emerge victorious in the upcoming MCCI elections.

Rawalpindi: Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Salman Ghani along with Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Region Babar Sarfraz Alpa visited and reviewed security arrangements for the main Chehlum procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) in Attock city.

During the visit, District Police Officer (DPO) Attock Sardar Mavarhan Khan, Deputy Commissioner Attock Mudassar Ahmed Shah, SP Investigation Zainab Ayub and other relevant officers were also present.

The Commissioner and RPO inspected the procession route, entry and exit points, sensitive locations and security checkpoints.

They directed officials to ensure effective monitoring of streets and routes adjacent to the procession route and stressed that no individual should be allowed entry without complete checking.

They further instructed all officers and personnel deployed for security duties to remain fully alert and ensure foolproof security arrangements throughout the Chehlum procession.

Dera ismail khan: District Police Officer (DPO) Tank, Abdul Samad Khan, visited Sector No. 2, Grah Baloch, to review security arrangements for the Chehlum procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), directing police personnel to remain fully alert and ensure effective security throughout the event.

During the visit, the DPO inspected the security measures put in place under the supervision of Sector Commander Sharif Ullah Khan Kundi. He reviewed the procession route, Imambargahs, pickets, checkpoints and other key security points established to maintain law and order during the religious observance.

Interacting with police officers and personnel deployed on duty, Abdul Samad Khan appreciated their commitment and instructed them to maintain a high level of vigilance, conduct effective checking, closely monitor suspicious activities and strictly follow all security protocols. He also directed personnel to use protective equipment and facilitate mourners to ensure the peaceful conduct of the event.

The DPO stressed the importance of close coordination with Rescue 1122, the district administration, the Health Department and other relevant agencies to ensure a prompt and coordinated response to any emergency.

He said Tank Police was utilizing all available resources to maintain peace and provide foolproof security to mourners during the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS).
