Lahore: Punjab Police have finalised comprehensive security arrangements for Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) gatherings, rallies and processions across the province on the occasion of 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal, with more than 55,000 officers and personnel to be deployed for security duties.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson on Monday, security arrangements have been completed for 1,436 Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) gatherings and 2,479 processions across Punjab.
In Lahore, 216 processions and 111 Milad gatherings are scheduled to be held, for which more than 8,000 police officers, personnel and volunteers will perform security duties.
Inspector General of Police Abdul Kareem said security would remain on high alert during Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) programmes and strict surveillance would be maintained over miscreants and anti-state elements.
He directed the police to ensure strict implementation of security standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all processions, rallies and gatherings and deploy additional personnel at sensitive locations.
The IGP directed that Safe City cameras be used to monitor gatherings and rallies, while the security plan should be prepared after consultation with peace committees, religious scholars and community leaders.
He also directed all regional police officers (RPOs), city police officers (CPOs) and district police officers (DPOs) to personally supervise security arrangements for 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal.
He said round-the-clock monitoring of security arrangements for all programmes should be ensured through control rooms.
The spokesperson said teams of Police, Traffic Police, Elite Police, Special Branch and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) would assist in ensuring security.
All conventional and modern policing resources would be utilised to ensure the safety of participants and maintain law and order during the Milad gatherings, rallies and processions, the spokesperson added.
