Lahore: Twenty-five Pakistani nationals, including fishermen, returned home on Saturday after being released from Indian jails, crossing into Pakistan through the Wagah-Attari border, official sources said.
The repatriated Pakistanis crossed the border after completing the required immigration and administrative formalities and were handed over to Pakistani authorities. Officials of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi were also present at the border and facilitated the repatriation process.
The Fishermen’s Cooperative Society said the 25 fishermen belonged to Karachi and Thatta and welcomed their release and return to Pakistan.
The repatriation comes as Pakistan continues diplomatic efforts to secure the release and return of its citizens detained in India.
