Quetta: For the first time in Balochistan’s history, the provincial government successfully achieved its set development targets during the last fiscal year, ensuring the full completion of budgeted projects.
The achievement was highlighted in a meeting of the Secretaries’ Committee chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, where progress on past and ongoing development schemes was reviewed in detail.
According to the briefing, the government not only saved Rs. 28 billion in non-development expenditures but also completed 2, 966 development projects, setting a new precedent for effective, transparent, and result-oriented utilization of resources.
Provincial Minister for Planning and Development, Mir Zahoor Buledi presented the performance report, while Chief Secretary Balochistan, Shakeel Qadir Khan informed the meeting that, for the first time, all budget-approved development schemes were fully executed.
The meeting was told that work was currently underway on 2, 280 projects in the ongoing fiscal year, with strict monitoring and evaluation mechanisms introduced to ensure timely completion. Chief Minister Bugti praised the performance of the Planning and Development Department, the Chief Secretary, and other officials, announcing commendation certificates in recognition of their efforts.
Addressing the meeting, Sarfraz Bugti said that timely completion of projects reflected good governance, effective monitoring, and strong oversight. He stressed that every rupee of Balochistan’s development resources would be spent on public welfare and sustainable growth, with no compromise on transparency, speed, or quality. He added that the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team and the Directorate of Monitoring and Evaluation would play a key role in curbing corruption and ensuring transparent use of development funds.
CM Bugti reaffirmed that public-interest projects would remain the government’s top priority, with the benefits of development reaching every district and citizen of the province. He pledged that the current year’s development targets would also be achieved within the stipulated timeframe, propelling Balochistan towards new milestones of progress, prosperity, and improved governance.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Ministers Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, Mir Shoaib Ahmed Nosherwani, Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani, and Sardar Faisal Khan Jamali, along with senior officials of relevant departments.
