Preparation of quality, effective textbooks essential for improvement of education system: Lal Jan


Quetta: Balochistan Secretary Secondary Education, Lal Jan Jafar on Monday said that the preparation of quality and effective textbooks was of fundamental importance in improvement of the education system.



He said this while addressing as chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of a three-day training workshop organized by the Balochistan Textbook Board to enhance the capacity of book writers, editors and reviewers, further improve the quality of textbooks and align them with modern requirements.



Chairman Balochistan Textbook Board, Dr. Gulab Khan Khilji, Secretary Balochistan Textbook Board, Dr. Niaz Tareen, Director Idara Nisabiyat, Naimatullah Khan Kakar, Director PITE, Fatima Mandokhel, book writers (authors) of various subjects of the education department and book reviewers, professors, assistant professors, PhD doctors, academic experts and officers of the Balochistan Textbook Board also attended the ceremony.



Jafar said that continuous improvement in the professional skills of book writers, editors and reviewers was essential to provide quality, easy-to-understand, research-based and modern educational materials to students. He said that the main objective of the training workshop was to improve the working capacity of experts involved in various stages of book preparation to provide awareness about modern educational principles and to make the quality, content, language, style and educational effectiveness of textbooks more effective.



Dr. Gulab Khan Khilji said that a textbook was not just a collection of information but an important source of building the intellectual, academic and creative skills of students, therefore, it was necessary to take special care of quality, accuracy, research, language and expression, and the age and educational level of students in its preparation.



He welcomed the holding of the training workshop and said that through such training programs, book writers, editors and reviewers get the opportunity to further improve their skills in modern teaching methods, curriculum requirements and preparation of effective educational materials.



The Chairman Balochistan Textbook Board expressed his determination that the Balochistan Textbook Board would continue to fulfill its responsibilities to provide quality and modern educational books to the students of the province and to improve the quality of textbooks, experts from education, book publishers and other related fields would be utilized.



During the three-day training workshop, the participants would be informed about various aspects of effective writing, editing, review of textbooks, accuracy of content, improvement of language and expression and preparation of curriculum materials according to modern educational requirements.



On this occasion, Secretary Secondary Education, Lal Jan Jafar also inaugurated the official website of Balochistan Textbook Board, which provided access to complete curriculum e-books, video courses, curriculum records and professors, doctors, lecturers.



The website also has a feature that students and teachers would be able to provide feedback and reviews to give their opinions and impressions on the material they have studied, which could provide useful information to teachers and other students, which would provide equal educational opportunities to all children across the province so that they could learn and lay the foundation for their bright future.
