Lahore: An accountability court on Wednesday approved a plea bargain between the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Elite Town owner Kashif Khan in a major development in the reference related to the Elite Town, Lahore Garden and Gulshan Lahore housing schemes.
Accountability Court Judge Rana Arif Khan approved the plea bargain after the accused was produced before the court from jail.
According to NAB, Kashif Khan agreed to return Rs1.91 billion as part of the plea bargain to secure his release. The recovered amount will be distributed among the affected investors, it added.
The accused had remained in jail for more than three years after his bail application was dismissed. Kashif Khan is the owner of the Elite Town, Lahore Garden and Gulshan Lahore housing schemes.
NAB maintains that around 15,000 people were affected by the alleged housing scam, with victims neither receiving possession of their plots nor refunds of their investments.
