Dera ismail khan: A ceremony was held here at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Friday to mark Independence Day, with senior civil and police officials, representatives of government departments, civil society members and students in attendance.
The ceremony began with the hoisting of the national flag and the national anthem, followed by a minute’s silence in memory of the country’s martyrs and national heroes.
Commissioner Daud Khan, Regional Police Officer Ghulam Mubashir Mekan, Deputy Commissioner Hikmatullah Khan, District Police Officer Ziauddin Ahmed and officials of the district administration and line departments attended the ceremony, along with representatives of the Sarhad Rural Support Programme and students from various educational institutions.
The students delivered speeches in Urdu and English and presented national songs and tableaus, which were appreciated by the participants. The commissioner, in his remarks, highlighted the significance of Independence Day and stressed the need for unity, patriotism and collective efforts for the country’s progress.
The ceremony concluded with the cutting of an Independence Day cake and distribution of gifts among children. A special prayer was offered for the security, stability, prosperity and progress of Pakistan.
