Burewala: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has intensified its crackdown on food adulteration and counterfeit products by raiding an illegal soft drinks manufacturing unit in Burewala, recovering a large quantity of fake packaging material and counterfeit beverage bottles.
According to official sources, acting on the directions of Director General Punjab Food Authority Raja Mansoor Ahmed, a Food Safety Team conducted a raid at an illegal soft drinks plant in village 265-EB, on the outskirts of Burewala.
During the operation, the team seized 1,500 empty bottles, 30 kilograms of counterfeit packaging material, and artificial flavours used to prepare fake soft drinks resembling well-known brands. The officials said the adulterated beverages were being manufactured under unhygienic conditions and were intended for distribution to various markets.
An FIR has been registered against the accused, while further legal proceedings are underway.
PFA Director General Raja Mansoor Ahmed said the authority would continue its relentless operations against those involved in the production and sale of counterfeit food and beverages. He stated that no leniency would be shown to individuals deceiving consumers by selling fake products in the name of reputable brands, adding that strict action would be taken against all those endangering public health.
