Abbottabad: Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad, Sarmad Saleem Akram, has directed the authorities to ensure foolproof security and timely completion of all arrangements for processions to be held on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal.
He issued the directives while chairing a meeting attended by District Police Officer Haroon Rashid, senior district administration officials, Assistant Commissioners, Additional Assistant Commissioners, religious scholars representing different schools of thought, traders’ representatives, and officials of law enforcement agencies.
The meeting decided that 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal would be observed with religious devotion and respect, with comprehensive security arrangements for all processions and gatherings.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the relevant departments to ensure cleanliness, adequate lighting and other essential facilities along procession routes before the occasion.
He said Rabi-ul-Awwal conveys a message of love, brotherhood and unity, urging all stakeholders to promote religious harmony and avoid provocative statements or actions that could hurt the sentiments of others.
The meeting was informed that banned organizations would not be permitted to organise processions, while provocative slogans would also be strictly prohibited. Violators would face legal action.
DPO Haroon Rashid briefed the meeting on the security plan, saying additional police and law enforcement personnel would be deployed at sensitive locations to ensure the safety of participants and the public.
