Havelian: The Abbottabad district administration has intensified its crackdown on illegal constructions in river protection zones, sealing four more residential houses in Havelian under the River Protection Act, 2002, just days after demolishing 10 houses built within restricted river areas.
The latest action was carried out by Additional Assistant Commissioner-II Muhammad Usama on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram.
During a detailed inspection of the River Protection Zone in Havelian town, four residential houses were found within the prohibited limits and were sealed in accordance with the provisions of the River Protection Act, 2002.
The operation is part of the district administration’s ongoing campaign against illegal encroachments in river and stream protection zones amid the current monsoon season. Officials said the measures are aimed at protecting lives and property from potential flooding, reducing disaster risks and ensuring public safety.
The district administration had also demolished 10 illegally constructed houses in river protection zones a few days earlier as part of the same enforcement drive. It said action against all unauthorized constructions in prohibited river and stream corridors would continue strictly in accordance with the law to safeguard citizens and prevent encroachments in vulnerable areas.
