Healthcare workers to serve people with dedication, Says DC Sanghar

Hyderabad: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sanghar, Sarah Javed on Friday said that healthcare workers should perform their responsibilities not merely as a job but with a spirit of public service.



This she said while speaking at a ceremony marking the completion of one year of public service by Muraadan Khatoon hospital in Tando Adam.



Sarah Javed said the completion of the hospital’s first year was a welcome development, and she appreciated the efforts made to provide essential healthcare facilities to the people. DC said timely and quality healthcare was particularly important for patients and families facing illness, maternity related complications and other medical problems.



She stressed the need for qualified doctors, trained nursing staff, medical equipment, functional laboratories and an effective management system to ensure better healthcare delivery. She said efforts were being made to address shortages of doctors and other medical staff in hospitals across Sanghar district and fill vacancies arising for various reasons.



District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Muhammad Farooq Arain, Assistant Commissioner Tando Adam Hunain Tariq Shahani, Medical Superintendent Taluka Hospital Tando Adam Dr Didar Hassan Khaskheli, Medical Superintendent Muraadan Khatoon hospital Dr Mushtaq Lakho and other officials attended the event.



During the ceremony, Javed visited various wards, the laboratory and other sections of the hospital and reviewed the healthcare facilities being provided to patients. Dr Lakho presented a report on the hospital’s performance including maternal and child healthcare services, administrative measures and other facilities.



The deputy commissioner said that rabies was a serious disease and timely medical advice and vaccination after an animal bite or scratch were essential. She added relevant institutions needed to work in coordination to address the issue of stray dogs and promote preventive measures among citizens. The deputy commissioner also highlighted the role of the media in creating public awareness about health issues.



DHO Dr. Muhammad Farooq Arain said the district administration, health department and local community had extended cooperation in establishing the hospital. He said women were being provided maternal and child healthcare and other medical services under one roof.



Earlier, the DC planted a sapling on the hospital premises. She later visited taluka hospital Tando Adam and reviewed ongoing development works and healthcare facilities being provided to patients.
