Lahore: Punjab Home Department issued comprehensive security directives for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), which will be observed on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal corresponding to August 26, 2026, with instructions to ensure foolproof security arrangements across the province.

According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department, the provincial government will celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) with religious devotion, respect and dignity. All relevant departments and personnel have been directed to remain on high alert.

The Home Department directed that security arrangements for Eid should not be less than those made during Muharram. Police personnel will be deployed at all permitted processions, Milad gatherings and Quran Khawani sessions.

The directives include installation of walkthrough gates and metal detectors at entry and exit points of major gatherings, cordoning off streets adjoining procession and gathering routes, deployment of female police personnel for women participants and removal of construction debris from areas around processions and gatherings.

Markets and shops along procession routes will remain closed after thorough checking, while snipers will be deployed at sensitive routes. All processions will be mapped and police patrolling will be intensified. Emergency exit routes at major gatherings and processions will also be identified.

The relevant station house officers (SHOs) have been directed to obtain written certificates from organisers regarding satisfactory security arrangements. Video and audio coverage of all important gatherings and processions will also be ensured.

Additional CCTV cameras will be installed along sensitive routes and linked with the Safe City monitoring system. Volunteers assisting police in security arrangements will undergo clearance from the Special Branch before deployment.

The Home Department also directed food safety officers to inspect Sabeel and Langar arrangements at all venues. Traffic flow and alternative traffic plans will be arranged around major processions and Milad gatherings, while parking facilities will be established at a safe distance from the venues.

The relevant authorities have been directed to coordinate with WAPDA and DISCOs to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply, adequate lighting and availability of generators around processions and gatherings.

Special security arrangements will be made for prominent religious scholars and leaders, while a complete ban on display of weapons, illegal use of loudspeakers, wall-chalking, hate speeches and aerial firing will be strictly enforced.

Police personnel in plain clothes will be deployed at sensitive locations and police pickets will be established at important points according to prescribed standard operating procedures. Bomb Disposal Squads and fire brigades will remain fully operational and in contact with district wireless control rooms.

Hospitals have been directed to remain on high alert, while Rescue 1122, field hospitals and clinics-on-wheels will remain deployed at designated locations. Ambulances, first-aid camps and drinking water facilities will also be ensured at major processions.

Inspector General of Police has been directed to submit daily details of intelligence-based operations, search operations and surprise checking to the Home Department. The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) will play a central role in intelligence-based operations.

The directives also call for enhanced security at all places of worship and special attention to the movement and security of Chinese nationals and other foreign citizens.

Deputy commissioners, district police officers, commissioners and regional police officers have been directed to personally supervise security arrangements. Meetings of divisional and district intelligence and peace committees will also be convened before Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).

The Home Department directed authorities to maintain close coordination with mosque imams and make them ‘Partners in Peace’. Strict monitoring of Fourth Schedulers and individuals linked with proscribed organisations has also been ordered, along with enforcement of all restrictions imposed on them.

Effective use of all media platforms has been directed to promote interfaith harmony, while district control rooms will remain operational round-the-clock and linked with the Home Department’s central control room on Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).

The department also ordered effective cyber monitoring to prevent extremist, sectarian and anti-peace content. Citizens have been urged to report objectionable material on social media through WhatsApp numbers 03073087777 and 03073097777.

The ‘Suthra Punjab’ staff has been directed to ensure cleanliness arrangements, while all development works along procession routes must be completed before the occasion.

All deputy commissioners, the CCPOs, CPOs and DPOs have also been directed to submit comprehensive contingency plans for dealing with emergency situations to the Home Department.
