Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Foundation (KPEF) and University of Shangla have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide higher education opportunities to deserving and underprivileged students of the district.
The MoU was signed by Vice Chancellor University of Shangla Professor Dr. Sardar Khan and Director Academics KPEF, Muhammad Saqib. Senior officials of both institutions were also present on the occasion.
Under the MoU, KPEF will provide scholarships covering 80 percent of tuition fees to deserving students of the University of Shangla.
The scholarships would be awarded purely on merit to students who demonstrate excellent academic performance but lack financial resources to bear the expenses of higher education.
The objective of the initiative is to provide financial assistance to talented and deserving students to enable them to continue higher education and to encourage those who are at risk of dropping out due to financial difficulties.
The MoU would remain effective for a period of four years and can be renewed with the mutual written consent of both parties.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor University of Shangla Professor Dr. Sardar Khan, Sitara-i-Imtiaz termed MoU a positive and significant development for deserving and capable students of the university. He said the initiative would help talented students facing financial hardships in pursuing higher education and would contribute to reducing the dropout rate due to economic pressures.
