LHC rejects bail plea of man involved in kidnapping case

Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday dismissed the post-arrest bail petition of a man allegedly involved in the abduction of a woman who later died from injuries sustained in a road accident. Justice Tariq Mahmood Bajwa heard the bail petition filed by accused Naeem Ashraf and rejected it after hearing arguments from both sides and examining the case record.

During the hearing. the accused’s counsel argued that Ashraf had been in jail for the past five months and that the case required further investigation. He requested the court to grant him post-arrest bail and order his release. Opposing the petition. the state prosecutor told the court that the accused had allegedly lured and abducted the woman. He further submitted that the accused’s DNA test had returned positive during the investigation.

He further submitted that the accused was transporting the woman on a motorcycle when they met with an accident. The accused allegedly fled the scene. leaving the injured woman behind. The prosecutor said the woman later succumbed to her injuries. As her identity could not initially be established. she was declared unidentified and buried.

He argued that serious evidence had emerged against the accused and that he was therefore not entitled to any relief. After hearing arguments from both sides and examining the available record. the LHC dismissed Naeem Ashraf’s post-arrest bail petition.
