Lahore: Punjab Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora on Monday said Pakistan guaranteed equal rights. religious freedom and equal opportunities to minorities. urging all citizens to promote the country’s image as a peaceful and inclusive society where people of all faiths lived together with dignity.
He was addressing a National Minorities Day ceremony organized by the Unique Group of Institutions at its Johar Town Campus. here. The event was presided over by Chairman Unique Group Prof Abdul Mannan Khurram.
The minister said Pakistan was the shared identity of all its citizens and every Pakistani should take pride in the country. He stressed the need to project Pakistan internationally as a country where followers of all religions enjoyed equal status and constitutional protections.
Prof. Abdul Mannan Khurram said minority communities had rendered valuable services in the creation. development and defence of Pakistan. adding that their contributions would always be remembered. He said the purpose of observing National Minorities Day was to acknowledge the role of minorities in national progress and promote harmony. equality and mutual respect.
A documentary was also screened to mark the death anniversary of Dr Ruth Pfau in recognition of her humanitarian services to Pakistan. while Lahore Board Science Group second position holder Onkar Singh and singer Jagmeet Singh Randhawa presented patriotic songs.
Bishop of Lahore Nadeem Kamran. Punjab Assembly member Shakeela Arthur. Secretary Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Usman Ali Khan. Prof Ashok Kumar and Principal Johar Town Campus Khamad Ejaz also addressed the ceremony.
