Karachi: The Lyari Town Municipal Corporation and The Citizens Foundation (TCF) have signed an agreement for the promotion of education in Lyari and the handover of six schools in Lyari Town to TCF.
Town Chairman Lyari Khalil Hoath, MPA Yousuf Baloch and other relevant officials and dignitaries were also present on the occasion; said in a statement on Wednesday.
On the occasion, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that along with improving the infrastructure of Lyari, revolutionary changes are also being introduced in the education and healthcare sectors.
He said that provision of basic facilities and improvement of the quality of life of citizens in different areas of the city remain among the priorities of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC). He added that the handing over of six schools to TCF is an important step in this regard.
He said that TCF would not only reconstruct and improve these schools but would also provide free education to deserving children of Lyari. The initiative would provide children of the area with a better educational environment and also help reduce the financial burden of education on their parents.
The Mayor Karachi said that education is the fundamental driving force behind the development of any society, and this initiative in the education sector would prove to be a milestone for the people of Lyari.
Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that efforts are being made to provide better facilities to citizens through cooperation between government, local government institutions and private and welfare organizations. Providing quality and free education to the children of Lyari would help create better opportunities for future generations.
He said that in addition to providing basic facilities to the people of Lyari, further measures would also be taken in the education and healthcare sectors to ensure the overall development of the area.
