Peshawar: Elders of Mohmand district have urged the federal government to review the cases of thousands of national identity cards blocked for verification and facilitate residents in completing the required process.
Speaking at a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club. members of the Mohmand Loya Jirga. led by Saleem Khan Mohmand. said residents were facing difficulties in providing old records. including documents dating back to 1978. required for verification.
They said the unavailability of such old records had caused inconvenience to a large number of residents whose CNICs had been blocked.
The elders also requested the authorities to shift the NADRA verification facility for Mohmand residents from Charsadda to Ghalanai to make the process easier for local people.
Saleem Khan Mohmand said women. children and other residents were required to travel to Charsadda for verification. which involved additional time and expenses.
The jirga called for a review of the verification procedure under Section 18 of the NADRA Ordinance. 2000. and urged the authorities to devise a suitable mechanism for residents of Mohmand district.
The elders expressed hope that the federal government would address the issue and facilitate the timely restoration of eligible CNICs.
