Peshawar Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and PEF University College here Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU)at the Central Police Office (CPO) Peshawar to provide better educational opportunities to children of police personnel and martyrs.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed, Additional IGP Investigation Alam Shinwari and DIG Headquarters Abbas Majeed attended the signing ceremony. The MoU was signed by DIG Welfare Sher Akbar Khan and Engineer Hidayatullah Khan of PEF University College Peshawar.
Under the agreement, PEF University College Peshawar will facilitate access to higher education for children of serving police personnel, police martyrs and their families by offering reserved seats and special tuition fee concessions in selected academic programs.
One seat each for FSc (Girls) and FSc (Boys) would be offered with a 100 percent tuition fee waiver. Meanwhile, three seats each in BS Dental Technology and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) would carry a 70 percent tuition fee scholarship.
The college would also reserve two seats for BS Radiology Technology, one for BS Nursing, three for Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), two for BS English and two for BS Computer Science with a 50 percent tuition fee scholarship for eligible candidates.
The initiative is part of the KP Police’s broader welfare measures aimed at improving the wellbeing of police personnel and their families including access to quality education, healthcare, financial assistance and other essential support.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP Zulfiqar Hameed said that police personnel fighting terrorism were sacrificing their lives to protect state and people. He said it was the institution’s responsibility to support their families particularly by helping ensure a secure and bright future for their children.
He said easier access to quality education would provide children of police families with better opportunities to advance in life and would also contribute to building a stronger, skilled and educated society.
The IGP expressed hope that the MoU would prove to be an important step towards providing educational facilities to children of serving police personnel and police martyrs and would provide assistance to many students seeking higher education.
