World pharmacist day celebrated at Ziauddin University

Sukkur A dignified ceremony was organized at Ziauddin University Sukkur Campus in connection with World Pharmacist Day here on Thursday. Director Health Sukkur, Dr. Farrukh Imtiaz Bhunbhro attended as the Chief Guest. Students, faculty and university administration participated in large numbers.



Addressing the ceremony, Additional Registrar Khurasani, Principal of Pharmacy School Dr. Ayesha, DMS Dr. Saimi and Provincial Drug Inspector Larkana Sahib Khan Mirani highlighted the vital role of pharmacists in the health sector, safe use of medicines and provision of quality healthcare services to patients.



In his address, Director Health Sukkur, Dr. Farrukh Imtiaz Bhambhro highlighted the crucial role of pharmacists, stating that their role is extremely important in ensuring effective availability, proper storage and rational use of medicines in government hospitals.



He emphasized regular completion of bin cards, accurate record of medicine stocks, strict checking and monitoring of medical stores, timely identification and proper disposal of expired medicines.



He advised the pharmacy students to make honesty, professional ethics, hard work, sincerity and serving the patients their priorities in future.



Later, the Registrar and Principal briefed the Director Health about the system and educational facilities of the Nursing School. Dr. Farrukh Imtiaz Bhunbhro also visited the Pharmacy School, DPT Department, Hospital Emergency, OPD and Pharmacy and reviewed the facilities being provided in different departments.



On the occasion, the Director Health particularly appreciated the fire safety system and functional incinerator present in the hospital and termed them as important measures for Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and hospital safety.



At the end of the ceremony, souvenir shields were presented to the speakers and distinguished guests, while certificates were also distributed among the students. The active participation of students and faculty was appreciated and the important role of pharmacists in public health, safe medicines and better patient care was highlighted.
