Lahore: Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari on Friday said that policy continuity was essential for taking Pakistan forward, stressing that changes in governments should not affect the national vision and policies aimed at public welfare.
In a statement, she said Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s clear stance was that governments may change, but the national vision and policies formulated for public welfare should remain consistent.
Azma Bokhari said Pakistan’s development was not the responsibility of any single province, government or political party but a shared responsibility of all stakeholders. She stressed that policies designed for national development and public welfare should not be sacrificed to political changes.
The minister said the country could not move forward if a policy introduced by one government was abandoned or changed by the next merely because of a political transition. Pakistan, she added, needed a consistent national vision and continuity of policies instead of short-term political agendas.
She said continuity in policies related to public welfare, economic development and the national interest was essential for sustainable national development, irrespective of changes in governments.
