Lahore: Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has issued comprehensive guidelines for customers visiting restaurants, hotels and coffee shops across Punjab to ensure transparency in tax payments and facilitate citizens in obtaining digital receipts. Under the new guidelines, the PRA spokesman said here Monday, the issuance of kitchen orders, unpaid bills, pre-bills or temporary bills to customers would not be permitted. All food chains, restaurants, hotels and coffee shops would be required to prominently display the guidelines at their premises.
The PRA spokesperson urged citizens to obtain a digital receipt whenever they avail services from restaurants and hotels and to ensure that the receipt was obtained only after payment. Customers should verify the business name, address and Punjab Taxpayer Registration Number (PNTN) mentioned on the receipt.
The digital receipt, he added, must contain order details, the applicable tax rate, the amount before tax and the total amount, along with the PRA invoice number and PRA QR code. Customers could use the QR code mentioned on the receipt to verify the transaction details. The spokesperson further advised citizens to immediately lodge a complaint with the PRA if any business refuses to accept digital or card payments. Complaints can be lodged through PRA’s social media platforms, the PRA Sahulat application or WhatsApp at 0343-0000772. The PRA spokesperson emphasized that obtaining digital receipts was essential for ensuring transparency in tax payments. Citizens were urged to ensure the protection of the taxes they pay for the development and prosperity of Punjab.
