Burewala: Punjab College Canal Campus Burewala on Sunday organized a ceremony to celebrate Independence Day and honour students and teachers for outstanding academic performance. SDPO Burewala Rana Muhammad Imran Tipu was the chief guest, while Principal Government Girls Graduate College Mrs Asma Hussain attended as the guest of honour. The ceremony commenced with flag-hoisting, followed by colourful tableaux presented by students of Punjab College and Allied School depicting the spirit of Independence Day and the sacrifices and courage of the Pakistan Army.

Students who demonstrated exceptional discipline, leadership and responsibility were awarded proctor sashes and administered an oath to uphold their duties. A student securing a prominent position in the board examinations was presented a cash award of Rs15 million, while teachers were given cash awards totalling Rs3 million in recognition of their outstanding performance.

Director Punjab Colleges Vehari Region Professor Majeed Akbar, in his address, highlighted the institution’s academic achievements and said the college was equally focused on character-building and promoting extracurricular activities among students. He appreciated the students and teachers for their efforts in maintaining high academic standards.

Addressing the gathering, SDPO Rana Muhammad Imran Tipu said Independence Day served as a reminder of the sacrifices rendered for the creation and defence of Pakistan. He urged the youth to focus on education, character-building and positive thinking and to play an active role in the country’s development. Principal Punjab College Vehari Professor Khalid Mahmood Mirza and other prominent personalities also attended the ceremony.
