Lodhran: Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122, in collaboration with the district administration, conducted first-ever night pre-flood mock exercise to assess preparedness for any possible flood emergency in the district.
The exercise was held at Chaarr canal near the District Sports Complex Lodhran.
Deputy Commissioner, Muhammad Ashraf, attended the exercise as chief guest, while Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Muhammad Tayyab, Rescue officers and personnel also participated.
A smartly turned-out contingent of Rescue 1122 presented a guard of honour to the chief guest. During the exercise, Rescue 1122 established multiple emergency relief camps to ensure timely assistance to people affected by a possible flood.
An emergency control room and information centre were also set up to provide citizens with timely information, guidance and emergency support.
District Emergency Officer Engineer Shakeel Ahmed briefed the participants about Rescue 1122’s pre-flood preparations, available resources and operational capabilities for conducting rescue operations during a flood emergency.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Muhammad Ashraf appreciated the preparedness and performance of Rescue 1122.
He said all government departments in the district were fully prepared to deal with any emergency situation.
He noted that the timely response of all relevant departments during last year’s floods had been commendable and stressed the importance of maintaining a high state of preparedness.
DC said Rescue 1122 teams across the district were ready round the clock to respond to any possible flood situation and were also fully capable of conducting rescue operation at night.
He said the primary objective of such mock exercises was to assess preparedness, available resources, coordination and response mechanism.
Rescue officers and officials actively participated in the exercise, which concluded with enthusiastic slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad. ‘
