Secretary Babar Khan directs timely completion of strategic projects

Quetta: Secretary Communications and Works (CandW), Babar Khan, has emphasized that the department plays a vital role in the province’s development and prosperity, stressing that any delay or negligence in performance is unacceptable as it halts the wheel of progress.

He made these remarks while presiding over a review meeting on the progress of the Fortification of Police Stations project. The meeting was attended via Zoom by Chief Engineers of all six zones, AIG Development Ahmed Sultan, Superintending Engineers, and District Executive Engineers.

During the session, engineers from various districts provided detailed briefings on the progress of 83 ongoing fortification projects and highlighted financial and technical challenges.

Babar Khan directed that no slowdown in the completion of critical projects will be tolerated, urging engineers to ensure timely delivery as a top priority. He instructed that all technical issues be resolved immediately and issued show-cause notices to executive engineers responsible for delays.

He further warned that executive engineers must guarantee completion of projects within the stipulated timeframe, otherwise strict action will be taken against those found negligent. He stressed that there must be no compromise on quality standards.

The Secretary also instructed Chief Engineers and Superintending Engineers to personally visit project sites regularly and submit progress reports every two weeks. These reports must include identification of technical issues to ensure uninterrupted work and sustained momentum.

Officials reaffirmed that the department remains committed to enhancing infrastructure and ensuring sustainable development across Balochistan.
