Hyderabad: Strict action is in progress against brick kiln owners violating environmental laws.
The initiative was taken on the directives of Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh for Environment, Climate Change and Coastal Development, Dost Muhammad Rahimoon, Secretary Environment, Climate Change and Coastal Development, Faisal Ahmed Uqaili, and Director General of the Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA), Ashiq Ali Laghari.
During an environmental inspection, a brick kiln owned by Liaquat Gopang, located near Bandhi in Shaheed Benazirabad district, was rechecked. The inspection once again revealed the use of hazardous and prohibited dirty fuel.
It is worth mentioning that the matter had previously been brought to the notice of SEPA, and clear instructions were issued to ensure full compliance with environmental laws.
Upon repeated violation, Regional Incharge SEPA Dr. Gul Ameer Sumbal expressed strong displeasure and said that continuous violations of environmental laws would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He warned that strict legal action would be taken against the kiln owner under Sindh Environmental Protection Act, 2014, and other relevant environmental laws.
The Regional Incharge added that the use of prohibited fuel contributes significantly to air pollution, causing serious harm to human health and the environment. Therefore, indiscriminate action will continue against all such elements.
The Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) remains committed to ensuring strict implementation of environmental laws to promote a clean environment, reduce air pollution, and safeguard public health.
All brick kiln owners and industrial units have been directed to strictly comply with environmental regulations and immediately refrain from using prohibited fuels.
