Larkana:An awareness programme on the prevention of harassment of women at workplaces was organized at the Regional Office of the Provincial Ombudsman, Larkana, on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, Consultant to the Ombudsman, Syed Shakeel Haider, briefed the participants about Act No. IV of 2010 concerning protection of women from harassment at the workplace.

He said that strict implementation of the laws enacted by the government to protect women working in various public and private institutions from harassment is essential, so that women can perform their responsibilities freely and confidently. He emphasized that women must raise their voice against any unpleasant incidents or inappropriate behaviour they may face in order to prevent such occurrences.

He further said that officers and employees working in institutions must be well aware of the laws relating to protection of women from harassment, so that complaints regarding such matters can be properly examined and addressed within their respective institutions.

Syed Shakeel Haider said that women are an important part of our society and providing them with a safe and secure environment is the collective responsibility of all of us. Only then can women effectively contribute to the progress and development of the country.
