Mansehra: The body of foreign tourist Alexander Harris, who went missing while trekking at Musa Ka Musalla in Mansehra, was recovered from Pracha Forest on Wednesday after a three-day search operation.
Deputy Commissioner Mansehra Khalid Iqbal said Alexander Harris and his companion, Alan David, arrived at Musa Ka Musalla on August 28 and went trekking the following day.
The administration and hotel management had offered the tourists the services of a local guide and police assistance, but the two declined the facility and did not complete police registration.
During the trek, the two companions lost contact with each other after Alexander moved ahead. He failed to return, prompting the authorities to launch a search operation.
Police, Rescue 1122, the Forest Department and local volunteers took part in the operation. Five search teams, including around 206 police personnel, searched various parts of the mountainous area for three days.
The search finally ended with the recovery of Alexander’s body from Pracha Forest on Wednesday.
According to the administration, the tourist is believed to have slipped and fallen into a deep ravine. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding his death.
