Lahore: City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) have intensified its crackdown against vehicles with outstanding e-challan fines, impounding a wagon in Ichhra with pending traffic fines.
According to a police spokesperson, Traffic Inspector Shahid Ranjha stopped the vehicle over dangerous driving and, upon checking its e-challan record, found outstanding fines totaling Rs 139, 750.
The spokesperson said the wagon driver had committed 16 red-light violations and six seat belt violations, besides other traffic offences recorded through the e-challan system.
Traffic inspector said the vehicle was released after the driver paid the outstanding fines.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi said that e-challans were being issued across the city for more than 20 types of traffic violations with the help of the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) camera system.
He urged motorists to strictly follow traffic rules and regulations to avoid e-challans and contribute to safer roads.
