Tree plantation campaign inaugurated at women varsity Mardan


Peshawar: Commissioner Mardan Division, Javed Marwat on Tuesday formally inaugurated the tree plantation campaign at the Women University Mardan. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Razia Sultana, Deputy Commissioner Mardan Wasif Rehman , members of the university administration, faculty, and other concerned officials were also present on the occasion. The Deputy Commissioner and the Vice Chancellor also participated in the campaign by planting saplings.



Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Mrdan said that climate change was one of the most pressing global challenges of our time and tree plantation must be embraced as a national responsibility to mitigate its adverse impacts.



He said that trees play a vital role in reducing environmental pollution, lowering temperatures, conserving natural resources and ensuring a healthy environment for future generations. He further stated that educational institutions have a key role in creating environmental awareness among the youth and promoting a culture of tree plantation. He urged every student to plant at least one tree and take responsibility for its care and maintenance.



The commissioner said that the provincial government was implementing various initiatives to protect the environment and reaffirmed the commitment of the district administration to make the plantation drive more effective through close coordination with educational institutions, public organizations and other stakeholders.



Earlier, in the presence of commissioner , a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Women University Mardan and Kohat University to strengthen academic, research and institutional collaboration.



The agreement aims to promote joint research, faculty and student exchange program and other academic partnerships between the two universities.
