UAF holds Kashmir solidarity rally, urges global action on human rights in IIOJK


Faisalabad: University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) organized a solidarity rally to mark Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir here on Wednesday.



Vice Chancellor UAF Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali led the rally while the participants strongly condemned human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and urged the international community to play an effective role in ensuring self-determination right to Kashmiri people in accordance with resolutions of the United Nations.



The participants carried national flags, banners and placards bearing messages in support of Kashmiri people, their right to self-determination and condemning alleged Indian atrocities in the occupied territory.



Addressing the gathering, Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali said that Kashmir Exploitation day was not merely a commemorative occasion but a reminder to the world of the humanitarian situation and the challenges faced by the people of IIOJK.



He said that unilateral measures taken by India on August 05, 2019 to revoke the special constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir had raised serious concerns regarding regional peace and stability.He added that the amendments to Articles 370 and 35A had altered the constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir.



He called upon the international community, global human rights organizations and influential world powers to take serious notice of the human rights situation in IIOJK, restrictions on civil liberties and other developments affecting the people of the occupied territory.



He said that Pakistan was committed to continue its support for the Kashmiri people at political, diplomatic and moral levels and would also continue to raise voice of Kashmiri people at every appropriate international forum, he added.



The rally concluded with special prayers for Pakistan’s peace, security, progress and prosperity as well as for the freedom of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, elevation of ranks of Kashmiri martyrs and success and well-being of Kashmiri people.
